Privacy Policy

SVD ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we handle when you buy or use SVD and how we use it.

Information We Collect

We collect as little as we need to run the app and the license:

  • Purchase and license: When you buy a Pro license, Lemon Squeezy (our payment provider) passes your name and email address to us. We store your email, license key and a device identifier to manage activations. Free trials are tracked with a device identifier only.
  • App usage statistics: The app sends usage events to Amplitude — for example app opened, download started, completed or failed, and the feedback buttons. Events include the app version, operating system, language, the website's domain name (such as youtube.com) and the chosen quality. If you activated a license, your email is attached so we can help you with support. Amplitude may estimate your country from your IP address.
  • Error reports: Crash reports and error logs are sent to Sentry to fix bugs. They include the app version and operating system and are not linked to your email.
  • Problem reports (only when you send one): In the desktop app you can choose "Send problem report" from the settings menu. It is sent only when you press Send, after a notice — nothing is sent automatically. A report contains the app's log files, which include the full addresses (URLs) of the videos and streams you downloaded or recorded, the file names and paths SVD handled, and error messages. It also includes your license email, device identifier, app version, operating system and the optional note you write. We use it only to diagnose and fix the problem you reported. Only Pro license holders can send reports (our server checks the license). If you prefer, you can email the log file to us yourself instead.

Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect:

  • Full addresses of the videos you download (only the site's domain name, as described above — except in a problem report you choose to send)
  • Downloaded file names (except in a problem report you choose to send) or file content
  • Browsing history
  • Personal files on your computer

We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.

How We Use Information

We use this information to:

  • Verify and manage your license
  • Improve stability and fix bugs
  • Understand which features and sites are used, so we know what to improve
  • Provide customer support
  • Email you about updates to SVD, the product you bought — new versions and important fixes. These emails are informational, not advertising. Reply "unsubscribe" or email us and we will stop.

Data Storage

License data is stored in our license server's database. Usage statistics are stored in Amplitude and error reports in Sentry. Problem reports are stored in a private Google Cloud Storage bucket (Seoul region, not publicly accessible) and deleted automatically after 30 days. All data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS).

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Lemon Squeezy: Payment processing and license keys. Lemon Squeezy also handles your purchase details under its own privacy policy.
  • Supabase and Render: Host our license server and its database.
  • Amplitude: App usage statistics.
  • Sentry: Error tracking and crash reporting.
  • Google Cloud Storage: Stores problem reports you choose to send.
  • Google Analytics: Website traffic analysis. Aggregate data only. See Google Privacy Policy.
  • Microsoft Clarity: Website heatmaps and session recordings to improve the site. See Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request the information we hold about you
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Deactivate your license from devices
  • Stop receiving update emails at any time

Children's Privacy

SVD is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the application or our website.
